About Ridout Holdings

Built on experience. Driven by purpose.

For over a decade, Ridout Holdings has been helping Australian organisations turn organic waste and biomass into clean, reliable energy — and building the projects that make it happen.

Our story

From the paddock to the power grid

Ridout Holdings was founded in the early 2015 by an engineer who had spent years working on agricultural and industrial projects across regional Australia. Garry saw firsthand the enormous volumes of organic waste being generated on farms, in food processing facilities, and by local councils — and the missed opportunity to convert that waste into something valuable.

What began as a consultancy advising on individual feasibility studies has grown into a full-service project development and delivery firm. Today, Ridout Holdings works with councils, agricultural enterprises, and industrial operators across every state and territory, guiding projects from the earliest concept through to commissioning and beyond.

We remain a privately held, Australian-owned business. That independence means our advice is always driven by what's right for the project and the client — not by vendor relationships or financial incentives to recommend one technology over another.

Mission & values

What we stand for

To accelerate Australia's transition to a clean energy future by making biomass-to-energy and waste-to-energy projects commercially viable, technically sound, and deliverable.

Integrity

We give honest advice, even when it's not what a client wants to hear. If a project isn't viable, we'll say so — and explain why.

Expertise

Our team brings deep technical knowledge and real project experience. We don't learn on the job at our clients' expense.

Independence

We are not aligned with any technology vendor or equipment supplier. Our recommendations are always based on what's best for the project.

Collaboration

The best outcomes come from working closely with clients, communities, and stakeholders — not delivering reports from a distance.

Australian credentials

Grounded in the Australian context

Renewable energy projects in Australia face a unique set of challenges — from grid constraints and regulatory complexity to feedstock variability and the tyranny of distance. Our credentials reflect decades of working within that reality.

Regulatory expertise

Deep familiarity with Australian state and federal planning frameworks, environmental approvals, and the National Electricity Market.

Feedstock knowledge

Hands-on experience with the full range of Australian biomass and waste feedstocks — sugarcane bagasse, wheat straw, forestry residues, MSW, food waste, and livestock effluent.

Grid and offtake

Established relationships with network operators, retailers, and large energy users across the NEM and SWIS, enabling realistic offtake structuring.

Regional experience

Extensive project experience in regional and remote Australia, including the logistical, community, and workforce challenges that come with it.

Industry memberships

Active members of the Clean Energy Council, Bioenergy Australia, and the Australian Institute of Energy.

Australian owned

Privately held and 100% Australian owned. Our interests are aligned with our clients and with the long-term success of Australia's clean energy transition.
